SMS: A lot of infomration is coming home today! Students will be bringing home their report cards, KSA score reports from last year's KSA, Title 1 Family Compact, and possibly more depending on the student. We are asking that families sign the compact and return in your child's red folder on Monday. We have a had a great day today! We ended the day with a GREAT house rally. Congraulations to the House of Altruismo for being the 1st Nine Weeks House Champion!
SMS: 8th grade students will have a field trip on October 28 from 8:30am - 1:00pm to the Owensboro Convention Center to attend JobSpark. JobSpark is part of the Junior Achievment curriculum and a great oportunity for students to explore different carreers. Permission slips are coming home today. This is a free trip for our students. Permission slips need to be returned by Monday.

SMS: House shirts and House Spirit items have arrived! We are working to sort those today/tomorrow and students will be coming home with them on THURSDAY. Friday is our next house rally so students are asked to wear their new house shirt to school on Friday! We have a couple items on backorder from the spirit store but most items are in!

SMS: Day four of All in for Agriculture Education Week! On Thursday students/staff can wear a blue shirt with uniform bottoms. The shirt can be any shade of blue! Normal dress code shoes, please. If students are wearing a blue shirt, they do not have to have a belt or tuck their shirt in.

SMS: Next week, South Middle School is celebrating the important role agriculture plays in our community! From growing our future to recognizing that Ag is Everywhere, each day gives our Bulldogs a chance to show their support and appreciation.
Our community is incredibly grateful for the farmers, families, and agricultural workers who help feed, fuel, and strengthen our community every day.

SMS: Midterms are coming home with students today! We will have parent conferences next Thursday from 4-6. Sign-ups will be coming out later this week so please take a look at the midterm to see which teacher(s) you will need to meet with.
SMS: Tomorrow is the Midterm AR Reward. If your child earned the free dress reward, they were given a ticket today in Language Arts class. They will need this ticket when they enter the building tomorrow morning to show they earned free dress. We coached them to put it somewhere safe and in a place that they would have in the morning. Reminders for free dress: no rips/tears in clothing, no pajamas/house shoes, no leggings/tight fitting clothing, and shorts must come to the top of the knee. Congratulations to our students who earned this reward. Over 70% of our students met this goal!
SMS: Monday, September 14th is picture day at SMS! Order forms will be coming home Friday. Please ignore the date found on the order form as that date is now rescheduled for September 14. Online orders are strongly encouraged. There willl be a make-up date for students who miss Monday's picture date.
SMS: BASKETBALL OPEN GYM INFORMATION: Open Gym is for any 6th-8th grade student interested in SMS Basketball. This is not a tryout. Open gym is a chance to meet the coaches and get some pre-season work in.

SMS: House Spirit store order forms are due this Friday, August 28 by 3:30pm. Money is due at the time of order. No late orders will be accepted as the order is being placed this weekend. Please take a look for options for an extra t-shirt, sweatshirt, socks, lanyard, stickers!
SMS: Mark your calendars for our Ice Cream Social. Tuesday, September 1 from 4-6pm. Come and meet your child's teachers, see their classrooms, and enjoy some ice cream! This is a come and go event and we are excited to see our families at SMS!
SMS: 7th/8th grade schedule pickup will be on 8/6/26 from 4-6pm. In order to pick up schedule early, please have online registration complete and pay fees ($30). Fees can be paid with a card in IC or in person with check or cash. We cannot take cards at the school. We will also have House Spirit Store order forms available as well.
SMS: 6th grade orientation is 8/6/26 from 12:30 - 3:30. They will get their school schedule and locker at this event. Students can be dropped off out front and they will enter the front of the building. Program will start at 12:30. Access around the back of the building is closed. Students will be dismissed out the front doors at 3:30pm. Please leave school supplies at home. We are excited to meet our new Bulldogs.
