SMS: Report cards, fee reports, and Online Registration Information is coming home today! Our GLOW DANCE will be tonight from 5-6:30. Tickets are $5. Normal HCS dress code applies. Get your GLOW gear ready. White and neon glow well under the black lights!

SMS: Read Across America Day #4: In "The Seventh and Most Important Thing" Arthur learns that often there is more than meets the eye. He uncovers talents that are now being put to good use while helping someone in need. The black house knows all about giving of their talents! Wear a black shirt with uniform bottoms.

SMS: Read Across America Day #3 (3/6/25): In "The One and Only Ivan," the characters demonstrate what is means to have a friend. The House of Amistad 's motto is "Be a Friend." Wear a red shirt with uniform bottoms to support friendship.

SMS: Read Across America Day #2 (3/5/25): In the book "Wonder," Auggie shows us how to have courage and stand up for himself. Show others your courageous side, like the House of Isibindi and wear a green shirt with uniform bottoms.

SMS: Read Across America Day #1 (3/4/25): Just like in "Esperanza Rising," we should not lose sight of our dreams and what it means to work hard. Dream Big is the motto of the Blue house. Wear a BLUE shirt with uniform bottoms tomorrow!

SMS: Midterms and fee reports will be coming home with students today. Fees can be paid online in IC or by check/cash at the school.

SMS: 8th grade parents!! HCHS Scheduling Night is tomorrow night at 5:30pm at HCHS. This is a very important night for students in terms of scheduling and they will receive their schedule book tomorrow night. Students will also tour CTE pathways. It will be a great night and will help with HCHS transition.s.

SMS: We are excited about our Ice Cream Social this Thursday 8/29/24 from 4-6! This is a come and go event where you can meet your child's teachers, walk their schedule, and enjoy some ice cream!

First Day of School
We are so excited to welcome our Bulldogs back to South Middle School tomorrow!
Doors open at 7:00am and school starts at 7:55am. If you are a car rider, we ask that you enter the car rider lane from Cherry Street and make your way to the drop off entrance. Please have your items ready to quickly leave the car as you get to the sidewalk that is covered.
We will do a dress code check at the entrances so please make sure your child is in uniform with polo shirt, khaki pants or shorts, belt, and closed toe shoes. Reminder that shorts must top the top of the knee.
Breakfast will be served from 7:15 until 7:50 everyday in the cafeteria.
If you need to drop medication for your child, please bring that to the school to meet with our nurse after 8am.

We will dismiss at 3:25 and we ask for your patience during dismissal. Please review the transportation information from the bus garage to make sure your child knows what bus to get on in the afternoon. If you are picking your child up from school, 6th and 7th grade pickup will be in the car rider line off of cherry street. 8th grade pickup will be at the parking lot by the football stadium. Cars are asked to not park in any areas that are painted yellow. Please do not park on cherry street or the road behind SMS for pickup.

SMS: 6th Grade Orientation is tomorrow (8/2/24) from 12:30-3:30. Please drop students off out front. Pickup will be at the same location. Students will get their schedules and lockers. Students can bring school supplies if they are ready. Med drop-off will be available. We cannot wait to see our newest Bulldogs!
