First Day of School
We are so excited to welcome our Bulldogs back to South Middle School tomorrow!
Doors open at 7:00am and school starts at 7:55am. If you are a car rider, we ask that you enter the car rider lane from Cherry Street and make your way to the drop off entrance. Please have your items ready to quickly leave the car as you get to the sidewalk that is covered.
We will do a dress code check at the entrances so please make sure your child is in uniform with polo shirt, khaki pants or shorts, belt, and closed toe shoes. Reminder that shorts must top the top of the knee.
Breakfast will be served from 7:15 until 7:50 everyday in the cafeteria.
If you need to drop medication for your child, please bring that to the school to meet with our nurse after 8am.

We will dismiss at 3:25 and we ask for your patience during dismissal. Please review the transportation information from the bus garage to make sure your child knows what bus to get on in the afternoon. If you are picking your child up from school, 6th and 7th grade pickup will be in the car rider line off of cherry street. 8th grade pickup will be at the parking lot by the football stadium. Cars are asked to not park in any areas that are painted yellow. Please do not park on cherry street or the road behind SMS for pickup.

SMS: 6th Grade Orientation is tomorrow (8/2/24) from 12:30-3:30. Please drop students off out front. Pickup will be at the same location. Students will get their schedules and lockers. Students can bring school supplies if they are ready. Med drop-off will be available. We cannot wait to see our newest Bulldogs!

SMS: Last chances to buy tickets to the GLOW Party will be tomorrow before school and tomorrow at lunch. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Glow Party will be tomorrow night from 5-7. $5 and concessions will also be available. Get that GLOW gear ready!!
SMS: Glow Party this Friday! 5-7. To be eligible to come, students must have all 4th term work turned in by tomorrow (3/20/24) at 3:25pm and have no major discipline notices. Tickets will be on sale for $5 at school starting Thursday. Check for missing work TONIGHT and turn it in tomorrow!
SMS: 8th Grade Dance Dress Code: Dress to Impress! Dresses (finger tip length, dresses can be strapless or spaghetti strap), suits, dress pants, dress shirt. Please no revealing clothing. Dress to dance and have a great time!

Due to water-covered roads, continued rising waters throughout the morning, and the threat of severe weather, Henderson County Schools will be closed on Friday, March 3.
This will not be an NTI day of instruction. Child care centers will be open today at East Heights, Bend Gate, and Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center.
SMS - As the weather is warming up and your child is wanting to wear shorts to school, please double check the length of their shorts. Middle schools students grow so quickly and the shorts they wore in the fall can become too short for Spring. Uniform shorts must be knee length.
